Man Faces Murder Trial In KORN Concert Death
August 22, 2006Bill Montgomery of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that a 25-year-old Douglas County man was bound over to Fulton Superior Court on felony murder and aggravated assault charges Tuesday in the death of an Atlanta man during a fight Aug. 1 at a KORN concert.
Bond for Michael Scott Axley was set at $40,000, and Judge Richard Hicks ordered him to stay out of Fulton County except to visit his lawyer. Hicks also imposed a dusk curfew and said Axley could not consume alcohol while free on bond.
The victim, 30-year-old Andy Richardson of Atlanta, was attending a concert by KORN at the HiFi Buys Ampitheater.
Atlanta police homicide Detective Brett Zimbrick testified at the hearing that Richardson was knocked to the ground by a punch from Axley, fatally hit his head on the concrete floor at the former Lakewood Ampitheater and was punched twice more as he lay unconscious.
